Alaska Ecoregions Mapping
EcoMap Ecoregions and Subregions of Alaska. The EcoMap was developed by the U.S. Forest Service following the Bailey approach to ecoregion mapping as described in the Ecological Regions of the United States. This map may be cited as: Nowacki, Gregory; and Brock, Terry. 1995. Ecoregions and Subregions of Alaska, EcoMap Version 2.0 (map). USDA Forest Service, Alaska Region, Juneau, AK, scale 1:5,000,000.[LINK] The data set contained here is the Nowacki/Brock version of the ecoregions of Alaska. [Metatxt] [GIF] [ARCExport] (4.2Mb) [Shape] (3.2Mb). Ecoregions of Alaska. The U.S. Geological Survey and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency completed a cooperative project to develop an Ecoregions Map and corresponding digital data base for the State of Alaska. This work in Alaska is a continuation of a program completed for the EPA for the conterminous U.S. and is parallel to the Ecological Land Classification Program conducted in Canada by Environment Canada. The ecoregion units were intended for use by EPA for stratification and reporting in its monitoring activities, including the Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Program (EMAP), and by the USGS in its North American Land Characterization work funded by the U.S. Global Change Program. The report, including a map, may be cited as: Gallant, A.L.; Binnian, E.F.; Omernik, J.M.; and Shasby, M.B. 1995. Ecoregions of Alaska. U.S. Geological Survey Professional Paper 1567, 73p.
