Description
Abstract
This is a polygon coverage of the Major Ecosystems of Alaska map
unit boundaries delineated by the Joint Federal-State Land Use
Planning Commission for Alaska in 1973 at 1:2,500,000-scale.
Purpose
This data will be used primarily to display the location of Major
Ecosystems of Alaska at a state-wide scale. It is not recommended for
local or regional analysis due to the small scale of this coverage.

Procedures_Used
The original version of this digital coverage was generated by the
US Environmental Protection Agency Environmental Research Laboratory,
Corvallis, Oregon, around 1991. The procedures used to create this
coverage were digitizing the major units from the original map.
