Description:

Abstract:

This polygon coverage represents the drainage-basin extent above the specified USGS lake sample site, and is one of many created for use in the determining the basin area in sq mi by the USGS, Alaska Science Center, Office of Water Resources. This work done as part of the Limnological Characteristics of Selected Lakes in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Alaska.

Purpose:

This drainage basin outline polygon coverage was created to determine area for input into the stations's header file as part of the Alaska Science Center, Office of Water Resources of the USGS in Anchorage, Alaska. The area is used for computations and is published each active year in the Alaska Annual Report.

Supplemental_Information:

This dataset was digitized from official USGS Alaska Science Center, Office
of Water Resources Drainage Area Map(s)stored at the Anchorage Field
Headquarters, at 1209 Orca St., Anchorage, Alaska. The Drainage Area
Map(s)are a USGS 1:25,000 Scale map containing the
official basin outline as hand annotated by an Alaska Water Resources
(AWR) hydrologic technician and checked by AWR hydrologist.
The outline was digitzed using a Calcomp DrawingBoard3 in ArcInfo 8.2
ArcEdit on an PC platform. Edits were completed and topology built in
ArcInfo 8.3.

file is intended to document the data set in nonproprietary form,
