nawqa_towns is a point coverage of the towns and cities located in the
Cook Inlet Basin National Water Quality Assessment (NAWQA) study unit in
southcentral Alaska. Locations were determined from 1:250,000 scale maps.
Town name, class, 1990 population, and year of incorporation are items in
in the coverage's point attribute file.
The purpose of nawqa_towns is to give an overview of the number of towns located in the Cook Inlet Basin and their respective populations.
Procedures_Used:
Locations of towns were digitized from 1:250,000 maps of the Cook Inlet Basin. Information on class, 1990 population, and year of incorporation was obtained from the Alaska Department of Regional and Community Affairs.
