nawqa_wet is a polygon coverage of the wetlands in the Cook Inlet Basin
National Water-Quality Assessment (NAWQA) study unit. The coverage was created
from a statewide coverage of wetlands which was used in the National Water
Summary on Wetland Resources - USGS Water-Supply Paper 2425.
The wetlands coverage of the Cook Inlet Basin is one of several coverages used to develop basin characteristics. This coverage along with others of the Cook Inlet Basin will be used to help determine water-quality sampling sites.
Procedures_Used:
A statewide coverage of wetlands in Alaska was digitized from a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service National Wetland Inventory Map for use in USGS Water Supply Paper 2425 - National Water Summary on Wetland Resources. The drainage basin boundaries of the Cook Inlet Basin, developed from 1:250,000 quadrangle maps, were used as boundaries of the coverage.

Since the coverage was created at a 1:2500000 scale, caution should be exercised using the coverage at smaller scales.
